Job Description:
Learning Services Program Nurse is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of program's medical management. The Program Nurse provides effective clinical nursing evaluation and treatment (including evaluating and monitoring daily health and medical issues for all residents), as well as assisting in reviewing Pre:Admission Screenings and in participating in staff training.
This position works to achieve the following outcomes:
1. Coordinates nursing assessment, treatment planning, implementation of care and evaluation.
2. Contributes to the development of the program.
3. Customer satisfaction as evidenced by data from customer satisfaction surveys.
4. Follows all policies and procedures set out by Learning Services Corporation.
5. Participates in orientation, yearly certifications and training program for direct care staff.
6. Provides documentation as required by program needs and licensing standards.
Requirements:
1. Minimum A.S. Degree in Nursing or diploma from Hospital Teaching Program
2. The nurse must be registered by the appropriate State examining Board.
3. Licensed and in good standing.
4. Criminal Record check and clearance, including finger printing.
5. Driving record check and clearance.
6. Current First Aid and CPR.
7. Initial Health screening
Key Tasks:
1. Coordinates nursing assessment, treatment planning, implementation of care and evaluation of resident's response to the intervention. These duties require the regular performance of work requiring advanced knowledge in the medical profession, as well as the Program Nurse's exercise of independent judgment and discretion in performing such work.
A. Reviews all appropriate medical records prior to a resident's admission.
B. Completes an interview with the residents and/or family following admission and generates all necessary documentation.
C. Insures that LST staff members are aware of each resident's specific health care needs and are appropriately trained to meet those needs.
D. Completes monthly rounds with the case manager to review health issues and concerns and assist in the coordination of medical needs.
E. Evaluates and monitors daily health and medical issues for all residents.
F. Completes contact notes when meeting with residents and/or their families.
