Bangladesh v New Zealand, only T20I, Mirpur Bangladesh aim for T20 improvement Match factsNovember 6, xxxxStart time xxxx local (xxxx GMT) Big Picture This is probably the best time for Bangladesh to begin fixing their horrible Twenty20 record. They have lost six of their last seven matches, and went down to teams like Netherlands and Scotland in recent times. A fast improving team in the ODI format, Bangladesh have not yet adapted to the game's shortest version.New Zealand, on the other hand, are a skilled team in this format and could use it to end their tour of Bangladesh positively, after failing to win a Test and losing the ODIs 0-3. Led by Kyle Mills, they performed a little better in the final one-dayer, scoring 307 for 5 but were let down by the bowlers. New Zealand are bolstered by Luke Ronchi in the middle order while Corey Anderson, Jimmy Neesham and Grant Elliott will be expected to pull weight as allrounders. Their pace attack has struggled and so has their solitary spinner in Nathan McCullum. The absence of more quality slow bowlers has been a weakness in these conditions. Bangladesh are in a happy position. They won the ODI series after drawing the Tests and would love to mark their authority in all formats, something they have never done against a higher-ranked side. Form guide Bangladesh WLLLL (last five matches, most recent first)New Zealand LWTLW Watch out for Colin Munro made 85 in his first opportunity on this tour and justified his selection by dominating the spinners in the middle overs. He should be an automatic pick for the Twenty20 match.Nasir Hossain is becoming Bangladesh's finisher in one-day cricket. He would like to do the same thing in Twenty20s but because of the batting order he hardly gets a decent hit in this format. He's a dangerous batsman in the end overs, and will keep New Zealand on their toes once again. Team news New Zealand found an opening combination that worked in the third ODI so they might use the same pair. The middle and lower order batted well too, so the changes might be in the bowling group. Mitchell McClenaghan may be rested, and Tim Southee may return. New Zealand (likely): 1 Anton Devcich, 2 Tom Latham, 3 Grant Elliott, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Luke Ronchi (wk), 6 Corey Anderson, 7 Colin Munro, 8 Nathan McCullum, 9 Tim Southee, 10 Kyle Mills (capt), 11 Adam Milne Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out with a stomach strain, which is likely to keep him out of action for two to four weeks.* Captain Mushfiqur hinted that Soumya Sarkar, the newcomer, could make his Twenty20 debut. It will however be tricky to find a spot for Ziaur Rahman, who is a good Twenty20 player. Al-Amin Hossain could get a look in ahead of Rubel Hossain, whose form in this format hasn't been up to the mark. Bangladesh (likely): 1 Soumya Sarkar, 2 Shamsur Rahman, 3 Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), 4 Mominul Haque, 5 Naeem Islam, 6 Nasir Hossain, 7 Mahmudullah, 8 Sohag Gazi, 9 Abdur Razzak, 10 Mashrafe Mortaza, 11 Rubel Hossain/Al-Amin Hossain. Stats and trivia Ross Taylor is 92 runs short of becoming the third New Zealand batsman to score xxxx Twenty20 international runs. Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill are the other two. Ziaur Rahman has the best economy rate - 6.16 - among Bangladesh bowlers who have played more than one T20 international game. Because the game will start at 1.30 pm local time, the Mirpur pitch will be at its best for the batsmen. The Dhaka weather has again been cloudy, though. "We need to keep playing the way we are. When you get a winning feeling, you have to keep that going. The Twenty20 is really important for now and the xxxx World Twenty20 because we don't have many matches of this format going into the tournament.""If we can win the Twenty20 and go to Sri Lanka with some momentum, it would be great for the team."New Zealand allrounder Colin Munro.*10.25GMT, November 5: The preview was updated after the latest on Tamim Iqbal came inRyad shouldn't in T20 Team . I recommend ZIA in place Ryad . He can change the game anytime . Also Shusmoy should in Opening Position . I was eagerly waiting to enjoy Soumya's batting. actually i was counting days when he would get the call up in the national team. we used to play cricket together with Soumya at our school field in Satkhira.. & now im very glad to see him in the squad... wish him all the best :) Posted by Amir Hossen on (November 5, xxxx, 10:56 GMT) The new pair gave Bangladesh a flying start in the last math then why Bangladesh team looking to break that pair in T20? It's a real chance for BD to prove thier worth in t20 format. .we are not done well in this format previously. .so it's a great chance for us to do well in this format and end the series on a high. .on the other hand NZ probaly will play allout game to regain some momentum. .i am very excited about this match nz shuld bring their best bowlers for the tour like bolt. bolt, southee, mcclenaghan, bennett, milne make good attack. NZ will be fine when ryder, guptill, vettori, bennett returns. Now NZ should win the series in s.l, then at home against w.i and clean sweep India.Nz team is mix of young blood which will surely explode in this format... Neshaam need a place here he can take the bowlers apart!!!Bangladesh don't often go into the final match of a series with victory already secured. They are usually on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline, or as it has happened in six contests against higher-ranked sides, it is 1-1. This scoreline, however, is just one of several things that's different about this series against New Zealand. After drawing the Tests 0-0, Bangladesh have dominated New Zealand completely in the limited-overs games. They have played with an inner strength drawn from becoming a team of performers, rather than depending on one or two to do the job.Naeem Islam, a last-minute replacement for Shakib Al Hasan in the first ODI, struck 84 and had an important partnership with his captain Mushfiqur Rahim, who scored 90, his first half-century in nine ODI innings. During the defence, Rubel Hossain stunned New Zealand by taking a hat-trick and a six-wicket haul. In the second ODI, Tamim Iqbal scored a fifty but when Bangladesh were beginning to slip, Sohag Gazi and Mahmudullah took them to 247, giving the bowlers a fighting chance. This time Mashrafe Mortaza stepped up. Playing an international series after nearly a year on the sidelines because of a heel injury, Mortaza moved the ball significantly and ensured New Zealand had a poor start. Gazi and Abdur Razzak maintained pressure and Bangladesh took the series with a game in hand.Apart from an in-form Bangladesh unit and the absence of Brendon McCullum, out due to a sore back, New Zealand will have to contend with a questionable playing surface as well in the final ODI. The Fatullah Cricket Stadium has been renovated, and the pitches have been relaid. Several batsmen have complained of very low bounce during the Dhaka Premier League. The average first-innings score in the domestic one-day tournament is 195; in the second innings it is 157.Public interest in this game is so high that when hundreds of fans were denied tickets at a local ticketing booth in Narayanganj near Fatullah, they fought with police and 30 people were injured. Tamim Iqbal has shown he can bat aggressively as well as carefully. His 58 off 86 balls in the second ODI, however, ended poorly as he was lost for shots. He began slogging and eventually missed one that hit his stumps. A natural stroke-maker, Tamim can go all out in the last game because the series has already been won. Ross Taylor scored two fifties in the Test series but still hasn't crossed that mark in the two ODIs. He has been one of the side's best batsmen on this tour, however, playing spin well and stitching partnerships at times. With McCullum out, he will have to step up and do it all alone. New Zealand will be without Brendon McCullum, who has a sore back. Luke Ronchi is likely to replace him in the XI, with Kyle Mills leading the side. The team management will be tempted to give fast bowler Adam Milne a game, but it is unclear at this stage who they would drop considering the better bowling performance in the second game. New Zealand (likely): 1 Anton Devcich, 2 Hamish Rutherford, 3 Grant Elliott, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Luke Ronchi, 6 Corey Anderson, 7 Jimmy Neesham, 8 Tom Latham (wk), 9 Nathan McCullum, 10 Tim Southee, 11 Kyle Mills (capt) Tamim complained of abdominal pain, and is a doubtful starter. Bangladesh coach Shane Jurgensen spoke of the heavy workload of some of his players so there may be a case for resting Rubel Hossain or one of the spinners. Mortaza may be rested for the dead rubber too. Al-Amin Hossain could make an ODI debut. Bangladesh (likely): 1 Tamim Iqbal/Anamul Haque, 2 Shamsur Rahman, 3 Mominul Haque, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), 5 Naeem Islam, 6 Nasir Hossain, 7 Mahmudullah, 8 Sohag Gazi, 9 Abdur Razzak, 10 Mashrafe Mortaza/Al-Amin Hossain, 11 Rubel Hossain/Ziaur Rahman. The last international match in Fatullah was an ODI between Bangladesh and Australia in xxxx. Tamim is now Bangladesh's highest run-scorer in ODIs with xxxx. He went past Shakib's tally of xxxx in the second ODI. Bangladesh have beaten New Zealand and West Indies seven times, their most wins against higher-ranked teams in ODIs.The Fatullah Cricket Stadium's international status had to be reinstated by the ICC because it had not staged a match in five years. The pitch and outfield have been relaid after several years of wear and tear and complaints of poor drainage. After two years of work, the venue began to be used for the Dhaka Premier League this season, but it had low bounce and has only improved a little since early September."We will play the same way we did during the first two matches. We will not take things casually just because the series has been won."Why is it termed as a dead rubber? Bangladesh should target another Banglawash. Also, the ODI ranking is another motivating factor. Winning this match will (almost?) take Bangladesh to the 7th position, ahead of WI and NZ. Bangladesh do not get enough matches. So, they should go for the kill. Bangladesh are head and shoulders above NZ in every department, on any pitch but especially at home. They should win this easily. NZ are now becoming almost a waste of time even for Bangladesh to play. Time for NZ to be relegated to only playing Australian state teams like in the past until they find a way to stop wasting time on the international schedule, though its doubtful even the aussie states would find them competitive. I would request the team management to give rest to the likes of Tamim, Mushfik, Razzak, Nasir (Shakib/Ashraful not in the team already)..........and see what the team can do....... Bangladesh should not make too much changes because we have T20 after the ODI series. Only Zia should get a match earlier to have a match practice before the T20 on November 6, xxxx. I think for T20 we may choose Zia ahead of Naeem. I don't mind for Bangladesh to change the team around a bit for the dead rubber game tomorrow but don't change so much that it makes it hard for the team to win. Complacency is such a problem for Bangladesh team once on a high and I don't want to see that happening tomorrow and really want to see another whitewash. But Bangladesh should still win really since the pitch looks like it will be slow and low and New Zealand have lost McCullum thus making them really weak now and will be playing on a ground they have never been to yet. Hopefully we'll see this line-up tomorrow:- Tamim, Shamsur, Naeem, Mominul, Nasir, Rahim, Riyad, Rahman, Gazi, Mashrafe and Razzak. A tough match is waiting for Kiwis at Fatullah. Can anyone remember the only test hosted by Fatullah? The mighty Australia team having Ponting, Clarke, Warne, Hayden, Gilchrist, Gillespie & others almost lost a test to BD in this ground back in xxxx. In fact at the end of Day 3 BD was in control & a patient innings by Ponting saved the 5th day for Aussies. Otherwise a much weaker BD team than now would've won a test against one of the Strongest XI of cricket history. Fatullah pitch will also b tough for NZ in this occasion as they've no idea about this new pitch & BD players already have played few List A matches there in last September. What ever question is raised if there is anything to be raised at all, lets just remember both the team playing same pitch. Bangladesh have scored 250 plus in both ODI where as NZ faltered. Never mind giving full credit to Bangladesh teams performance, something is always there to give a reasoning for other team not doing well! I think its time we change our attitude towards Bangladesh cricket and have the honesty to give the credit which they rightly deserve. What a man & commentary he is? Absolutely honorable aura. Although his team NZ is loosing game by game but this guy is so neutral and humorous (Profession) in his commentary. The Kiwis are a strong team, but the Tigers proved to be stronger. A win in the last ODI is needed not only for moving up the ranking but enhancing the team's reputation as well. India are left gaping at a Ravindra Jadeja-sized hole after a shoulder strain ruled the allrounder out of the two-Test series against West Indies. The race to that spot - possibly a No. 6 batsman or a fifth bowler - is a three-way tie between Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and the extra bowler, which is likely to be Amit Mishra. MS Dhoni said on the eve of the match that the absence of Jadeja leaves them struggling to restore the balance of the Test XI, which won 4-0 against Australia earlier this year.Jadeja was a specialist bowler on Indian pitches, and his batting ability down the order gave Dhoni the confidence to move up to No. 6. Now the team management has a dilemma. "The thing is, whether we want to go with four bowlers, or if we want that fifth one," Dhoni said. "Or do we want someone who can bowl a bit if needed? That is one major decision. The decision is one, but it is divided into three different aspects. "If we go with five bowlers, both of them [Rohit and Rahane] may not play. If we say we need someone who can bowl a bit of offspin, Rohit plays. If we say we go with four specialist bowlers, and if needed we will look for someone else, Ajinkya will play. You'll have to wait and watch." All this more or less reduces Rahane's chances in the tiebreaker. If India do decide to go with just the four specialist bowlers, you suspect Rohit's part-time offspin will earn him a Test debut. Not only that, his form in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia - where he scored a double-century, broke the record for most runs in a bilateral series and was the Man of the Series - should give him a lead over Mumbai team-mate Rahane. Rohit already holds the record for having played the most ODIs without making Test debut. He was primed for that debut in xxxx-10, but injured himself in the warm-up, minutes before the toss in Nagpur. Because India didn't have any back-up batsmen in that lopsided squad, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha played that match as a specialist batsman. Mishra, who last played a Test more than two years ago, is an outside chance to play as the third spinner. Not quite Jadeja with the bat, Mishra did score an 84 at The Oval and a double-century on a flat pitch in the Ranji Trophy last year. How Dhoni wishes he had Jadeja, though. Not least because Jadeja's accuracy gives him more control than Mishra will. Jadeja's quicker pace also gives him an edge over Mishra. And then there is the balance Jadeja provides. "It has been a bit of a concern, and I've always said that," Dhoni said. "I have always said that we need a seam bowler who can bat a bit, or a frontline spinner who can bat. At times, you don't realise the importance of a particular player. People criticise individuals, but it's important to see what kind of impact he has when he's part of the team. "Now that we don't have Jadeja, we're all thinking whether we should have that fifth bowler, or another spinner who can bat a bit or is it that the batting will become too thin. We will have to find someone. Jadeja is someone who can do that job, but it's good to have a Plan B or a Plan C. As of now we don't have too many who can do the job." The other decision to be taken is which pace bowler will join Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the line-up. The team management might not be sure about Umesh Yadav, who has not played much top-flight cricket since his injury. Ishant Sharma has been going through a prolonged rough phase - he has an average of 60 since he last took more than three wickets in an innings, more than two years ago. That means you can't rule out a debut for the local man, Mohammed Shami. "He is part of the Test side, so he is ready for Test cricket," Dhoni said when asked specifically if he felt Shami was ready. "He's shaping up really well. If you see the ODI performances, he has given us those breakthroughs with the new ball, which I feel with the rule changes is very important. He's also someone who bowls at a good pace and who's able to bowl good yorkers. Overall he looks very good, and we want to keep working with him so that he can improve his fitness further. [So] when he comes into Test cricket, he'll able to bowl those long spells, and he can come back and bowl at the same pace in the second or third spell." The wicket will be flat for Mr.Retireman. Therefore all average batsman will look good. It doesn't matter. How do Indians plant to take on Chandrapaul who is having all the fun against Indian bowling? I guess people are forgetting Ashwin...This guy can bat for sure.. He is definitely a bowler who can bat a bit which Dhoni is asking..May be not a complete all rounder like Jaddu, but still can be considered as an all rounder...I guess Dhoni should go with R Sharma at No 6 and Ashwin at No 8,bhuvi at 9,mishra/Ojha at 10 ,Shami /Yadav at 11.. What about Manpreet Gony ????? I thought he was a big hitter with immense muscular power and he also bowls with lively pace say 135 plus. Should be given chance!!! I bet he is far better than Vinay kumar If Dhoni is serious about taking 20 wickets in a test match, he should play 5 bowlers. And no, Ishant Sharma is NOT a wicket taking bowler. He's just a filler. He should have been kicked out of Indian team long time ago. Forget about taking 5 wickets in an innings - he hasn't taken even 3 wickets in an innings in last 2 years. This series should be retirement of 2 Indian players - SRT and Ishant Sharma. When the selectors selected the squad it was obvious that an all rounder was missing. Baba Aparajith- a spinning all rounder and Rishi Dhawan- a fast bowling all rounder are two promissing younsters the selectors should keep an eye on. Shami is the man..fit and getting the job done deserves a test cap, but dont write off Umesh Yadav if Dhoni can give him the confidence this kid could slice through West Indies like a hot knife through butter!! India need to groom another allrounder for test cricket. There are practically no surprises in the Indian squad. In a long list of Ranji matches preceding the Ind-Wi series, couldn't the selectors have selected a new alrounder. Abhishek Nayyar and Parvez Rasool sould have been in the squad. Having said that, I hope Rahane gets to play ahead of Rohit Sharma. Don't want Rohit's double century to play a part in his test debut. Seeking an allrounder to replace Jadeja? When was the last time Jadeja ever batted like a batsman or an allrounder? #PauseAndPonder
